A survey published by consumer watchdog Which? found that 68% of consumers have experienced interruptions with their broadband service.
Grant Shapps MP, Chair of BIG said, ‘It is completely unacceptable but sadly not surprising that two in three consumers have had problems with their broadband in the past year. BIG has found in our research that broadband speeds are regularly mis-sold, and that consumers often lose out from a lack of competition in the market. Broadband is now an essential utility and we cannot continue to put up with slow speeds. Ofcom now needs to get tough on internet service providers that fail to deliver.’
Previous research published by BIG revealed that poor internet connections are costing the UK economy up to £11 billion per year.
